The Grappling Hook is one of the Nightrunner tools that you’ll receive in Dying Light 2. You’ll have access to it during a mission called Broadcast. Here’s our Dying Light 2 guide to help you with the Grappling Hook upgrades and how you can use this item effectively.
Note: We’ll have a Dying Light 2 guides and features hub soon, so stay tuned.
Dying Light 2 Grappling Hook upgrades guide
As mentioned earlier, the Grappling Hook is obtained in Dying Light 2‘s Broadcast mission. It’s an extremely lengthy romp that can take over an hour, but you do receive it halfway through (I won’t spoil the exact moment).
Its usage is actually integral to the mission since your main goal is to reach the top of the VNC Radio Tower to activate it. Make sure that it’s equipped in your Accessories tab, and press “1” to swap to it. Then, press the middle mouse button when the aiming reticle is on a valid surface.
The Grappling Hook can be used on various surfaces, including walls, lamposts, ceilings, beams, and more. In some cases, you might even need to press the middle mouse button again so that Aiden can latch onto something when the hook is detached from the previous object. Do keep in mind that Aiden loses stamina while he’s using the Grappling Hook.
Below, you’ll see the upgrades for the Grappling Hook in Dying Light 2. You can get these from Craftmaster NPCs. I would suggest prioritizing the Paraglider upgrades over this, but you can still grab the first Grappling Hook upgrade if you have Military Tech to spare (you can ignore the UV Flashlight for a time).
Upgrade Level and Effect | Cost |
1 – Adds the ability to attach to surfaces and gain additional velocity in that direction. | 2 Military Tech and 2,000 Old World Money |
2 – Adds the ability to pull enemies closer. Do a “Get Over Here!” like Scorpion. Okay, maybe not exactly like that. |
3 Military Tech and 3,000 Old World Money |
Dying Light 2 is available via Steam.
