New Warzone Ricochet anti-cheat Disarm feature takes weapons from cheaters

As soon as Call of Duty: Warzone launched, cheating became a huge problem in the battle royale. So far, measures to combat cheaters have included multiple ban waves, the introduction of cloaking, which allows players targeted by a cheater to turn invisible, and more. As the fight continues, Activision has upgraded its Ricochet anti-cheat with another mitigating feature. Cheaters will now be disarmed in Warzone, and it’s quite amusing for us legitimate players to see.

Activision explained the new Ricochet Disarm feature for Call of Duty: Warzone in a blog post. Cheaters having lethality and the potential to ruin another player’s game is the main and most frustrating issue. Therefore, the solution is to take everything away from cheaters. Once a cheater is detected in a match, they’ll lose all their weapons, even their fists. A clip is provided on the blog post to show the Disarm feature in action. As you can see, the cheater is moving around before getting their weapon and hands taken away from them. The cheater continues to move frantically, wondering what has happened. As they have nothing to fight back, you will be able to earn yourself an easy kill on the cheater.

Looking ahead to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2

The Ricochet anti-cheat will be present at the launch of both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 with Disarm still active. Although it is a promising start to the new era of Call of Duty, we’ll have to wait and see how effective Ricochet will be. Also, we don’t know if the Modern Warfare 2 beta will have an anti-cheat active. This could be problematic, especially when the open beta goes live. Cheaters are still roaming around Rebirth Island and Caldera. The mitigations only reduce the amount of hackers you should get in a match.
